I have received some lovely messages recently from people who just dropped me a line to let me know they liked my blog. To be honest, that's one of the best things about writing a blog.
When trying to publicise my blog, I had a go at mentioning it on forums. Unforunately that was met with a lot of rude remarks from people; people saying things like 'have you never heard of modesty?'. I decided to forget trying to get new people to read my blog, as I figured people obviously didn't want to know, and were making me feel sad just because I was trying to share something I'd put a lot of time and effort into.
Instead I thought, I'll write my blog for me. Stuff publicising it, if it's only me that reads it, then that's good enough for me. Fortunately, people have found my blog, and thanks to statcounter I can see I have a very small fanbase. I'm not bothered about this blog reaching thousands of people, I'm not hoping to get famous from it. Knowing that a few people check it regularly is lovely and flattering enough for me, so loyal followers, I wanted to say... I am sure I'm not worthy of your regular views, but feel very flattered to be remembered!
To anyone beginning a blog, and struggling to publicise it, I feel for you. Don't worry too much, the viewers will come. If your content is lively enough and you don't fall into the trap of ranting, or telling everyone what you've done each day down to the last boring detail, then people will want to hear what you have to say.
Feel free to advertise your blog through the comments on this post. We're all here to support each other. Let us know what you like to blog about. What makes your blog special?
And to those of you have taken the time to send me a little message with a kindly hello in the past....a multicultural thank you to you all!
